Managing colonies across a dispersed municipality

Managing colonies across a dispersed municipality

In Sorbas, colonies are spread across the town and numerous villages and hamlets. Ethical management requires more than neutering: it also means identifying animals, monitoring their condition, coordinating carers, ensuring veterinary support and keeping basic records of each intervention.

Collaboration that strengthens existing resources

Sorbas Town Council began preparing its Municipal Community Cat Colony Management Programme in 2024 and started implementing CER actions at the end of 2025. Kin Felina welcomes this progress and works to strengthen the areas that need continuity: health monitoring, feeding, logistics, coordination and support for the people already caring for colonies.

Logistical support on the ground

The association has access to a plot and a small storage space next to one of the main colonies in Moras. It is used to organise food, handling equipment, carriers and recovery cages, and to coordinate short-term veterinary care.
